1. How long have you known Harvey?
I have known Harvey since 2003.
2. Has he been diligent, honest, reliable and ethical in his behaviour?
Yes, Harvey has always been reliable, diligent and honest. Harvey has a huge appetite for life and is always thinking outside the box he is painted into. That said, he always acts in the best interests of the team he is working with.
3. What were/are his greatest strengths?
His experience and his ability to interpret and create options for solving the issues we were faced with.
4. Was there anything that would cause you concern regarding his integrity or ability?
No, I always enjoyed working and socialising with Harvey.
5. Based on his performance with your organisation, would you have any concerns with his skills or abilities in a strategic leadership role?
I think that is where Harvey could add the most value. I think given his entrepreneurial flare and business network you need to empower Harvey and let him loose. Make sure he has a “sounding” board for his ideas and get him to detail them out from concept to execution and then let him go.
6. Is there anything else you would like to tell me about Harvey?
I enjoy meeting people like Harvey. We need more creative people who are willing to lead rather than follow.
1. How long have you known Harvey?
I’ve known Harvey since 1996, working with Hammersley Iron in the Rio Tinto group.
2. Has he been diligent, honest, reliable and ethical in his behaviour?
Yes, I wouldn’t keep employing him otherwise.
3. What were/are his greatest strengths?
Systems - being able to simplify them and communicate that to a group. He can put them into simple form and then find a way to communicate that to people so that they can understand, and then everyone can engage.
4. Was there anything that would cause you concern regarding his integrity or ability?
No, he has a high amount of integrity. He is very self-motivated. If you tell him to “go to China and get it” he’ll find a way to deliver. You can set a broad parameter then he’ll do the research, and then talk about scope, then modify it if necessary, and then go get it. I don’t need to worry about correcting, he is very much into process, very strategic. He will find out the resources needed, what is required when, so he can deliver what was asked and then he’ll take it to the next level.
5. Based on his performance with your organisation, would you have any concerns with his skills or abilities in a strategic leadership role?
No, that’s why I employ him. He did some really good stuff – identified gaps in our organisation. Some of which we still haven’t filled because we haven’t found the right people. Harvey always had a vision of what needed to be done and was able to say this. He has tremendous integrity, he will say what needs to be said and be firm on it.
6. Is there anything else you would like to tell me about Harvey?
Harvey has good morals. He is the sort of person who has beliefs and expresses them in family and business life. He is very confident in what he has to say. He has always been a very good member of any team. Always been able to identify what needs to be done. He is very good socially; he likes to have a laugh and understands how this can motivate people. How it is not just about work but who you work with. I’ve been associated with him for a long time now because he is a good person.

Yes, very much so. I’m a bit of a stickler for rules. Harvey was fully aware of governance in the club, suggesting what needs to be done. He is very honest.

Harvey was the systems and governance guru. He handled the club’s administration and computer stuff including web, email and document management. He used to give tutorials on how to use the computer to parents who asked for help.
